A notice is a short piece of written communication issued by individuals, groups, institutions, or organizations to convey some important information to a large group of people.
It is a formal announcement about functions, events, and occasions It is also used to make announcements about something that has happened or is about to happen. It is 40-50 words long.
Types of Notice
There are many types of notices that we write. They include
- Announcements of a competition or event
- Lost and Found
- Calls for submissions
- Announcements regarding upcoming tours or trips
- Information regarding meetings, etc.
However, in Class 6 we will focus only on notices written for Announcement of Competition or Event and Lost and Found.
Points to be Kept in Mind
- Always put the notice in a box.
- The language used must be simple and clear.
- Do not exceed the word limit, if given in the question.
- A notice should/must include some value points (necessary details) in order to make it precise and effective.
- The notice should be written in the third person, i.e., pronouns like I, me, you, mine, your, etc., should not be used except in Lost/Found notices.
- Remember to read your notice to make sure that you have not made any mistake in it.
